About the Commissioner for Senior Victorians
The Commissioner provided an independent public voice to educate the community on seniors’ issues including prevention of elder abuse, actively promoting the positive contribution of seniors and encouraging seniors to fully participate in our community.
Gerard Mansour was appointed to the role in 2013 and completed his tenure in May 2023. Throughout his tenure as Commissioner, Mr Mansour was a highly respected adviser to government on behalf of older people, working closely with peak bodies and senior Victorians across the state.

The ‘Your Voice – Trust Your Choice’ booklet is for older people. It includes helpful tips, case studies, and sample wording to assist you to think about, and make, your enduring power of attorney.

Ageing well in a changing world
In November 2020, the Commissioner released the ‘Ageing well in a changing world’ report. Drawing on the insights provided by five thousand senior Victorians, the eight key attributes of ageing well were developed to show what it means to age well in Victoria.

Ageing is everyone’s business
The Ageing is everyone's business’ report was launched in 2016 and identified loneliness and isolation as a significant issue for our ageing population. The report explores the causes and drivers of loneliness and identifies potential policy and program responses to mitigate the impacts of isolation and loneliness.
